UNECE R150 REGULATION

About ECE R150
One of the automotive regulations is UN ECE Regulation 150. It is recognized by more than 50 countries. UN ECE R150 compliance of lamps or signalling devices are ensured by testing, technical documentation, quality certification and production control.

ECE R145 regulation explains these processes and it is free to download.

UN ECE R150 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of vehicles in the categories specified in the regulation in terms of retroreflective device equipment.

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.

Regulation 150 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) — Covers the uniform provisions for the approval of retroreflective devices and markings for powered vehicles and their trailers, and the tests applied accordingly.

ECR R150 Regulation applies to retroreflective devices conforming to:

1)Reflectives of Classes IA, IB, IIIA, IIIB and IVA
2)Reflective Signs of Classes C, D, E and F
3)Reflective Sign Plates for 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Class Heavy and Long Vehicles
4)Retro-reflective Sign Plates for Class 1 and 2 Slow Moving Vehicles
5)Type 1 and 2 Pre-Warning Triangles

Retroreflective devices include retroreflectors, retroreflective materials, signposts and pre-warning triangles.
Retroreflective devices must be constructed to function satisfactorily and continue to operate under normal use.
In addition, they should not have design or manufacturing defects that would impair their efficient operation or maintenance in good condition.

The outer surface of retroreflective devices will be easy to clean. For this reason, the surface will not be rough and the protrusions they may show will not interfere with easy cleaning. The test procedure will be applied in such a way that the characteristics of retroreflective devices will be different during the day and night.
